Physical Characteristics
Like Humans, Gorillas have a skeletal system almost exactly the same as humans only much larger; however, the Gorillas facial structure is described as mandibular prognathism. This facial structure is where, the madible protrudes farther out than the maxilla. Male Gorillas or better known as ‘Silver Backs’ can weigh up to 180kg whereas female Gorillas are usually half the size. They have layers of skin, muscles and hair to protect their body and have the same digestive and reproductive system of that of a human. Gorillas also have four limbs, 2 act as feet and 2 as hands and the way they get from place to place is by knuckle-walking. They have two ears close to the skull.
